Children & Care
What You May Face
We are aware that child care proceedings can be traumatic. The Local Authority will seek to suggest that your children have suffered significant harm or are at risk of doing so and you may be confronted by many serious allegations which you dispute.
The Police may be involved. Your children may be removed from your care.
Things may move quickly and you may not fully understand the process, or you may feel excluded and that you have not been treated fairly.
How We Can Help
Our family solicitors will aim to assist and guide you in these difficult times.
We have significant experience in and detailed knowledge of the child care process.
We will, when required, attend Gateway Meetings and, if the Local Authority commence formal Court proceedings, can represent you at Court.
Your participation is important. We feel strongly that your views should be expressed and taken into account but, equally, will offer robust advice. We will guide you through the legal and factual complexities and ensure that you fully understand and participate in the process.
Denise Higgins and Sonia Topiwala both have Children Law Accreditation (formerly known as the Children Panel). This gives you the reassurance that you have a knowledgeable and highly experienced lawyer on your side.
In 2013, our team also achieved an ‘Excellence’ rating from the Legal Services Commission, recognising that the advice and service that we provide our clients is of the highest level.
We understand how important your children are to you.
