Woodfines has received recognition from the law firm directory, Legal 500, for the strength of its legal teams in both the East Anglia (covering its Cambridge office) and South East (covering its Bedford, Milton Keynes and Sandy offices) regions.
The Legal 500 analyses the capabilities of law firms in the UK and is updated annually to give a view of the UK’s legal market. The rankings are based on a series of set criteria, as well as feedback from clients.
In the South East...
The firm’s Private Client team, which deals with Wills, Tax, Trusts and Probate matters, was recognised as a ‘Top Tier’ firm, meaning that it is amongst the very best of law firms across the South East. Senior Partner and Department Head, Mike Cox, was recognised as a provider of “first-class advice”, whilst Court of Protection specialist and Partner, Nigel Ashton, stood out for his “exceptional and invaluable” support given to clients.
The Commercial Property team at the firm also received recognition for its depth of knowledge, with Sylvia Goulding’s team noted for their proficiency and Milton Keynes based Senior Associate Solicitor, Suzanna Stephenson, described as “diligent and resourceful”.
The firm’s Employment Law specialists were praised for their expertise, and were highly ranked for providing all manner of employment law advice to businesses in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Further recognition was gained for the firm’s Company Commercial team, who advise a number of local businesses, together with the recently expanded Commercial Litigation team, who advise and manage dispute resolution and debt recovery management for business clients.
Within the firm’s teams for individuals, legal teams were recognised within the Family and Personal Injury departments, as well as the firm’s Crime team, who represent clients on criminal matters for all manner of business crime, fraud, criminal offences and road traffic matters.
In East Anglia...
Two of the Partners at Woodfines’ Cambridge office received the recognition of being ‘Leading Individuals’ in their respective fields; Alun Butler was recognised for his expertise in Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate, whilst Tim Ridyard (“whose ‘knowledge and understanding of the sector is second to none’”) achieved the accolade for his specialist road transport law knowledge.
The Road Transport team were also ranked as leaders in the field across the region, with a Top Tier ranking: “Woodfines LLP ‘surpasses the level of expertise of most recognised firms across the UK’ and is a leading nationwide practice for road transport matters.”
The firm’s Private Client team were described as “the perfect medium-sized firm”, with “clout, confidence and broad experience”. The team achieved a second tier ranking, with Partner, Karl Dembicki, described as showing “remarkable patience and attention to detail” in Court of Protection and elderly matters.
