Commercial Property Solicitor – Milton Keynes

We are looking for a solicitor to join our busy and expanding Commercial Property team, based at our Milton Keynes office. The ideal candidate will be 3+ years qualified, with a sound knowledge of the property landscape in the region and experience of dealing with a range of commercial property transactions.

We would be happy to consider part-time or flexible working applications for the right candidate.

Salary is commensurate with experience and we offer additional staff benefits after a qualifying period.

We are interested in hearing from experienced Commercial Property solicitors interested in joining our office in Cambridge.

You will need to be experienced in all aspects of commercial property matters. You will also be involved in marketing and promoting the department.

We would particularly like someone with significant commercial property experience, preferably gained in the Cambridge area.

Private Client Solicitor - Cambridge

This is an exciting opportunity with prospects for the successful applicant of a career path into a senior role.

The Role:
The position entails a broad base of private client work skills, including drafting wills, power of attorney, court of protection and deputyship applications, estate administration, legal research on benefits, trusts and estates.

The successful applicant will:

  • have minimum 5 years PQE
  • have a good knowledge of UK Will and Trust law
  • have an aptitude for IT and software applications
  • have good organisation skills
  • have a strong interest in marketing and promotion
  • be a good communicator, which is essential to this role
  • be able to work as part of a team but also capable of acting on own initiative

Credit Controller - Milton Keynes

The individual will actively chase clients and challenge partners to achieve maximum cash collections to help reduce aged Debt in line with the Firm’s Credit Control procedures.

The team provides reports on individual client debts and payments, statements of account and answers queries.

This is a highly visible client facing role with the opportunity to develop a good working relationship with our clients as well as Practice Groups, and the Finance department.

The Role

  • Providing Credit Control support to an allocated group of Fee Earners.
  • Chasing clients by phone, email and letter, for payment within the Firm’s Credit Policy, while at all times being mindful of client relationships.
  • Liaising closely with Fee Earners and Secretaries.
  • Escalating queries to Fee Earners and the Credit Control Manager.
  • Keeping accurate records of actions taken.
  • Identifying debts for escalation to the Credit Control Manager.
  • Producing letters, statements and reports as required.
  • Being the first point of contact in the absence of the Credit Control Manager.

Person Specification.

  • At least 5 years credit control experience. Some experience within a law firm would be advantageous, but is not essential.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to client care.
  • Good Excel spreadsheet skills. Preferably able to build vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Able to take ownership of their own workload while seeking guidance where necessary.
  • Proven ability to build good relationships with internal & external clients.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to cover tasks in the absence of the Credit Control Manager.

25-30 hours per week.  Times to be agreed.

Monday to Friday: 5 days per week.

Office Junior - Bedford

We are currently seeking an Office Junior to work in our Bedford office.  This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for their first job or next step in their career into an office environment.

The role will be responsible for carrying out a range of duties across the Bedford office and will include: 

  • Typing
  • Photocopying, filing and archiving
  • Making appointments
  • Dealing with client enquiries, email and any other correspondence
  • Dealing with incoming and outgoing post.
  • Covering reception when needed.
  • Other ad hoc administrative duties


Skills Required:

  • Minimum of GCSE grade A-C in Maths and English
  • Willingness to work well as part of a busy, friendly team
  • Confident and eager to learn
  • Clear communication skills

Compliance Officer - Bedford

We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Officer to join our team.  The position is a full time, permanent role based in our Bedford office. 

The role will provide support and assistance to the Partners and Practice Management in the monitoring and continuous improvement of compliance.  

Key Duties include: 

Ensure the firm is compliant with all regulatory requirements by: 

  • Drafting developing and implementing firm-wide compliance policies and procedures
  • Providing risk and compliance training firm-wide
  • Responding to compliance queries and providing advice firm-wide
  • Assisting in claims and complaints handling, maintaining registers and providing advice on mitigating associated risks


Skills Required:  

  • Sound knowledge and experience of working in Compliance within a regulated sector, ideally legal
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Accurate
  • Effective communication skills
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Able to work under pressure to set deadlines
